Cody Alicea, a middle school student attending Denair Middle School, fly the American flag on the back of his bicycle on his way to and from school. But the on Veterans’ Day week his principle told him to stop, citing anonymous complaints. Mind, it would seem to me that those complaining need to be taught about the virtues of free expression that the flag represents. But the school took what it thought was the easy way out and just told Cody, who was flying the flag in part to honor his grandfather’s military service, to take it down on school grounds. Somehow, though, I don’t think this boneheaded decision will turn out to be the easy one after all.
