Oops, she’s done it again, but we’re not talking about Britney Spears this time; instead we’re looking at Miley Cyrus, the 17-year-old who gained fame, fortune and a wholesome reputation as Disney Channel’s ‘Hannah Montana’. Cyrus who turns 18 on November 23, had recently told MTV News, “I’m a completely different person now,” and apparently she means it.

Tim Winters, President of Parents Television Council, spoke with TMZ and summed it up this way about Miley, “It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one. It sends messages to her fan base that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fan base so rapidly.”
Cyrus’ actions since 2009 seem to echo the seriousness of her statement about being a different person now. First there was the infamous pole dancing performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, and then came the video of Billy Ray’s daughter performing a lap dance for a man obviously much older than she.
And now in Cyrus’ music video, little is left to the imagination as she writhes around bed in lingerie, puts on her makeup sans covering clothes, and later dances with both males and females.
Sounds kind of like Britney Spears who morphed from the sweet innocence of the Mickey Mouse Club into the Britney that we know today. ‘Nuff said there.
Cyrus has not yet spoken out about the latest slam against her burgeoning sexual identify, but surely the outspoken teen going on 30-something (or her PR Rep) will coin a trite and perhaps tartly-laced response.
Interestingly enough, Dolly Parton who is Cyrus’ godmother offers her vision about the young singer’s future that she shared with FOXNews.com after the dance lap incident, “She’ll land in the right place. I really know she has everything it takes. She is just trying to find her way and she will.”
