It was a busy day in MLB today as both leagues had games scheduled. Matt Cain pitched a gem of a game against the Phillies in the Giants 3-0 win in the afternoon game, and the Texas Rangers continued their dominance over the Yankees 10-3 in New York in the night cap.
NLCS Game 3 – San Francisco 3 Philadelphia 0
Matt Cain pitched a two hitter, including five strikeouts and three walks in seven innings, as the Giants shut down the Phillies Tuesday night in San Francisco 3-0. It didn’t take a lot of offense, but new-found sensation Cody Ross did manage another base hit, and later got an RBI to keep his playoff magic alive. The Giants took a 2-1 lead in the National League Championship Series with the win.
ALCS Game 4 – Texas 10 New York 3
Texas took no prisoners Tuesday night in their 10-3 victory over the Yankees. The Rangers scored two in the third inning, then opened it up with three runs in the sixth and another two in the seventh. Just to make sure they added three more runs in the top of the ninth for insurance. Derek Holland gets the win for Texas after coming on in relief in the fourth inning. AJ Burnett pitched well for New York until he tired in the sixth and the Rangers got to him. The Rangers opened up a commanding 3-1 lead in their ALCS matchup with the Yankees with the win, and will head back home with a chance to close it out no matter what happens in game five.
