Monday Mornings were once quiet
But they became cluttered
with the screams and laughter of children,
the car horns
that competed with the singing of birds,
and chaotic clicking of heels on the street below
that could be heard through the bed sheets.
Monday Mornings were once calm
but then came fall
and with it came alarm clocks,
voices laced with anticipation,
the smell of caffeine
and the crispy sound that a leaf makes
when it falls on the ground
and gets crushed
by a laughing child.
