On Sunday the MTV Europe Music Awards were broadcast from Madrid, Spain. Desperate Housewives Actress Eva Longoria Parker hosted. Ms. Longoria changed from her red carpet short black dress to several other dresses and including a ham suit during her hosting duties.
Favorites to win were Lady Gaga and tween-sensation Justin Bieber who both won the most awards of three and two respectively. Ms. Gaga accepted her awards for Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song via satellite video from Budapest where she was on tour. Mr. Bieber also accepted his awards for Best Male and Best Push Act via satellite since he was acting as the show’s virtual host. Other winners included Bon Jovi for Global Icon, Eminem for Best Hip Hop and Katy Perry for Best Video. Earlier this year at the MTV Video Music Awards the Lady Gaga also won big. Performances at the awards ceremony included Rihanna, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Bon Jovi. Kanye West also made an appearance during a 30 Seconds to Mars routine.
Prior to the award ceremony the nominees and performers walked the red carpet. Newlywed Katy Perry arrived at the award ceremony with new husband comedian Russell Brand. The two debuted their wedding rings: thick hammered gold bands. Ms. Perry wore a red Jeremy Scott dress that looked like a red ticket stub.
Also gracing the red carpet was former Disney star Miley Cyrus who wore a white peek-a-boo dress that showed off the sides of her breasts and a hint of a tattoo under her left breast. The 17-year-old star has been criticized for precocious adult behavior like drinking a beer, dancing on a pole, kissing a female dancer and wearing too-sexy clothing in her performances.
Other notable red carpet stars were: Jersey Shore star Snooki, who wore a shredded-skirted sequined-bustier dress. Rihanna, who wore a white, poofy wedding gown almost swan-looking dress. And another 17-years-old-going-on-who-knows-what Taylor Momsen with her band The Pretty Reckless who wore black thigh-high boots, a black shirt opened to show off her bra and way too much black eyeliner.
