Breastfeeding an infant is what I feel is the best and healthiest way to go, and that is the choice my daughter had made. However, she still pumps her breast milk from time to time, and we feed our five week old with the Nuby Natural Touch bottles.
There are occasions when a bottle is needed, and others of us can help out my daughter by feeding the baby ourselves. Of course this means we need to clean the bottles, which meant we really did need to buy a bottle brush. Since bottles have small openings and are deep, it is hard to get into the bottles with a dishcloth, and my hands are obviously too large to fit into a bottle opening!
Our local Target store had two different bottle brushes from which to choose, but I really liked the Munchkin brand, which made a Deluxe Bottle Brush. These came in pink, blue, green and yellow, but we chose the pink color since we have a little girl.
The Munchkin Deluxe Bottle Brush is two bottle brushes in one. Inside the handle is a smaller nipple brush, both this brush and the large rounded end bottle brush have durable textured bristles. Using a combination of these two brushes will allow moms to scrub the hard to reach areas inside of baby bottles and nipples.
Often times it can be difficult to find a place to store bottle brushes. You certainly don’t want them to be in any areas where they can come into contact with any germs, but Munchkin has thought about this problem and has come up with a solution! The Munchkin Deluxe Bottle Brush has a built in suction cup as a base, so you can stick it onto your counter top and it stays upright and out of germs. I was hoping this would stick onto the edges of our sink, which is made of a composite material, but as hard as I tried I could not get it to stick.
The Munchkin Deluxe Bottle Brush also fits nicely into the Munchkin Deluxe Drying Rack, which we also have, but this rack folds up for storage and you still need a sanitary place to keep the bottle brush, so we opt to use the suction cup to stick it onto the counter top near the sink. We usually let it sit on the counter top until it is dry, then place it in our utensil drawer.
This brush can be washed in a dishwasher, but it should be placed on the top shelf when doing so. The packaging says that bottle brushes should be replaced every 30-45 days, or at the first signs of wear, but as long as we keep it clean and the bristles look good, we will keep using it. It retailed for only $3.50, which is a fair price in my opinion. I am glad to recommend the Munchkin Deluxe Bottle Brush.
