With over 200,000 apps (applications) in the iTunes app store you’d think you could find one to meet every need. However, vertical market applications are always needed and you may occasion something that you’d like to do on an iPhone that existing apps cant. Here are some ideas that come to mind for this writer.
YCN Assignment app – The Yahoo Contributor Network (YCN) brings creators and publishers together in a content market place. Most creators are part timers working “day jobs” and can’t stay on top of opportunities. An app providing assignment alerts, allowing assignment evaluation and claiming on their iPhone would increase opportunities for contributors and provide a larger pool of talent to meet assignment needs.
The app should allow you to sort assignments by date added, date due, time left, pay, type, and alphabetically. It should allow for filtering so that you can filter out assignments that you don’t want, by type for example. The assignment should be claimable, added iPhone calendar, and set appointment alerts through the app.
iAMBER app – The AMBER Alert System is an early warning system to help find abducted children. The first three hours after an abduction are most critical to recovery efforts, so increasing the number of eyes looking for these children in the fastest time is imperative. With an estimated 6.4 million iPhone user iAMBER would provide faster and more detailed information that could increase the odds of a child being returned.
iAMBER, alerts sent to iPhones in the affected areas (based on GPS) could include pictures of the child, perpetrator, and vehicles involved. A possible sighting button could take GPS coordinates and allow snapped pictures to be sent to authorities. It would be a credit to Apple if they created and provided this app.
I-Fashion app – The holiday season is upon us and soon all through the house, we will be opening presents we wish would be destroyed by a mouse. From shirts, ties, and clothing made from hair, oh how we wish when they shopped that we’d been there! iFashion could allow you to take pictures of potential gift recipients and enter their statistics like sizes. You could scan clothing bar codes and choose the wearer to see how cool or dorky the fashion will make your giftee look.
Be it work, protection, or something fun, you can see iPhone apps have just begun!
