While my husband and I work all week, and don’t spend nearly as much time with our kids as we would like, we set aside one night a week to go out to eat to spend time as a family. We live in northern New Jersey, the Wayne area to be precise, and have tried many dining establishments in the area. Out of the uncountable number of places we have tried, three of them stand out in the crowd, and we find ourselves returning to them, time after time.
Fuddruckers – Burgers and fries with a bar for the adults and an arcade for the kids. At Fuddruckers you will expect to find an All-American menu consisting of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and more. They have a superior condiment bar filled with all sorts of toppings for your meal. They have a separate kid’s menu with choices like mac and cheese and hot dogs, in addition to burgers. The atmosphere is very relaxed and family oriented.
Romano’s Macaroni Grill – Italian Cuisine that is sure to please everyone. Diners can select from pasta dishes, traditional, and original Italian dishes. Their menu has a Mediterranean grill section that advertises grilled steaks, fishes and chicken for those looking for more of a “meat and potatoes” option. Their menu is moderately priced with entrees starting at around $10. The kids menu gives your children the choice of both American and Italian entrees for $5-6. Macaroni Grill has many great specialty drinks from the bar. My kids love this restaurant because the tablecloth is made of paper, and they supply crayons when you are seated so they can draw right on the table!
Jose Tejas – Out of all three eating establishment, Jose Tejas is, hands down, my favorite. Serving Cajun and Mexican cuisine, this restaurant is decorated just like a Mexican cantina. The unfinished wooden tables and chairs makes this decor look very authentic. The atmosphere is very casual and the staff is very friendly. The food is excellent and their entrees start at $6.98. In addition to the Cajun and Mexican dishes, they have salads and burgers for those with milder tastes. They have a some great catfish dishes, and I recommend their jambalaya, guacamole, and melon margaritas. Kids meals are $4 and they can choose from items such as tacos, quesadillas, burgers, and grilled cheese.
