Recycling your Christmas tree in Naperville Illinois is easy. According to the city website the tree recycling collection program will pick up each residents tree on their normal garbage collection day starting January 4th through January 11th.
Lights, tinsel and ornaments must be removed from the tree. Trees must also be free of all stands, plastic bagging, or any other type of wrapping material used to get the tree out of the house. Place the tree at the curb next to your garbage can on your regular scheduled garbage day.
If you miss the two week collection period, trees will be picked up in May during the spring brush collection.
If you miss the scheduled pick-up time think about using the tree to give birds a home during the harsh winter weather. Have the kids put peanut butter on pine cones or stale bagels, and then roll them in bird seed. Put the tree in a corner of the yard away from the whipping wind. There is no need to stand the tree up, just lay it on the ground and tie the pine cones in the tree.
