Oprah’s designer pal Nate Berkus surprised a young guest on his show yesterday, with a visit to the set of the Nickelodeon show iCarly and a dreamy bedroom makeover fit for a tween.
On Tuesday’s Nate Berkus Show, the designer surprised a 12 year old Monique Aguilera with a visit to the set of Nickelodeon’s tween comedy iCarly to meet star Miranda Cosgrove and the rest of the cast of the hit show. Then Berkus unveiled a tween dream of a room makeover that resembled Carly’s ultra cool room on the popular series.
Besides Carly’s funky bedspread (called Birdcage Reversible Comforter Set, which Berkus picked up at Bed Bath and Beyond for $39), the designer recreated her balloon covered stool by adorning an inexpensive table from Target with balloons.
Ballard Designs was the place to find wall letters, but Berkus suggested that wall letters could be mixed and matched and even painted to make them unique (according to People Magazine, the iCarly wall letters are from Urban Outfitters; PB Teen also sells a variety of wall letters).
Berkus even found iCarly’s telltale lightbulb wall stickers online for $25.
The unveiling of the TV series bedroom was itself the subject of a highly touted special episode of the show back in July .
The iCarly episode “I’ve Got a Hot Room” kicked off with a sweepstakes that had the show’s website at a standstill, with fans clamoring to register to win everything from an ice cream sandwich bench to a gummy bear lamp.
Last summer People Magazine ran a story on where to find some of the unique and colorful items from the iCarly bedroom, revealing that the ultra cool gummi bear chandelier can be found at jellio.com ($125), while the balloon stool is from blueprintfurniture.com ( at $199 it’s quite a bit pricier than Berkus’ homemade version).
Indeed this room- and Berkus’ inexpensive knockoff version- is so cool it’s hot, hot, hot!
