As I began the reaseach for this article, I couldn’t believe all of the diseases, sicknesses, and life threatening situations thousands of people deal with everyday.
Cervical Cancer awareness- An organization designed by the United States Congress in regards to prevention and awareness of Cervical Cancer and HPV disease.
Glaucoma awareness- A cause to prevent this sight stealing disease. Infants and seniors are more vulnerable than the average young person. Over 7 million Americans are reported to have this disease.
National Birth Deffects Prevention- A volunteer based organization. Addresses the issues of birth deffects. In the process of building a global organization.
National Radon Action Month- Reduces the risk of lung cancer. This disease takes the lives of over 20,000 people.
Low Vision awareness- Sheds light on the subject of young women and men suffering from blindness. 1 out of every 28 Americans are diagnosed with low vision.
American Heart month- Heart disease is the number one cause of death in America. Heart disease and stroke prevention are the main idea of this foundation.
National Donor day- A day to represent the people that have given away an organ to those in need. Also, a day for someone to give an organ.
Give Kids a Smile day- Provides oral health care for low-income children. Dentists and organizations also teach kids how important it is to take care of their teeth.
National Nutrition month- A day to give education on nutrition and focuses attention on the importance of making and eating healthy foods.
Save Your Vision month- Awareness of things that can cut your vision short, staring at the computer or t.v for to long, for example. In other words, this disease is called ‘Computer Vision Syndrome’
World Kidney Day- Focuses on the importance of Chronic Kindey disease and Cardiovascular disease. Trying to reduce the frequency of kidney disease.
National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS awareness- Every 35 minutes a woman is tested positive for HIV/AIDS. This organization raises awareness for these young woman.
Alcohol awareness month- Raises issues on underage drinking and the cause and effects of alcohol.
National Autism awareness month- Raising awareness on the issues of children and adults with autism.
National Cancer Control- Awareness of cancer and ways to fight the cancer as a Nation and America.
National Child Abuse Prevention- An organization to bring light to the issues of child abuse and child neglect. Trying to raise as much support and gain as many members as possible.
American Stroke month- This organization raises awareness of victims of strokes and the damage it can do to a human being. Also, raising awareness to the symptoms of a stroke and trying to prevent it from happening.
Clean Air month- A yearly check up of the air we breath. Awareness of pollution, dirty power plants and the damage littering can do to the world.
Hepatitis Awareness month- Hepatitis is the cause to most liver cancers. This day of the month represents the life threatening disease on Americans and all through out the world.
Healthy Vision month- Aknowledges the importance of eye safety and preventing eye injuries. In the process of increasing the use of eye wear during on-the-job oppertunities.
Home Safety month- Encourages businesses to get involved with this organization to make homes more safe for families.
Vision Research month- Eye health and and eye safety organization that researches and develops way to prevent blindness and injuries to the eyes.
National Cancer Survivors- A worldwide celebration honering the men, women and children that survived the devastating experience of cancer.
National HIV Testing- An oppertunity for people nationwide to get tested for HIV/AIDS. Also, to earn education on their health and how to take some control on living a healthy lifestyle.
UV Safety month- This time of the month is meant to spread the word about fun in the sun and being safe and protected while doing these activites.
Juvenile Arthirits awareness- Test and educate on the conditions of all types of arthiritis to any person in the world.
Cord Blood awareness- Sponsored by America Hospital Association strives to spread the word and inform expecting mothers about making a choice of having the option to save their newborns cord blood stem cells.
International Group B Strep awareness- An organization to raise awareness that this disease can affect newborns before they take their first breath of life. This can cause them to be still born, or their mothers to have a miscarriage.
Spinal Muscular Atrophy awareness- Raises awareness about this rare genetic disease mostly in newborn babies.
Psoriasis awareness month- Awareness on another rare disease that is not widely known around the world.
Cataract awareness month- Awareness of men and women over the age of 40 with cataract problems.
Childhood Cancer month- a month to aknowledge children with cancer and ways to prevent it as much as possible.
Whole Grains month- Promotion of whole grains in food and a healthy lifestyle
National Dental Hygiene- A month to show the progress of Dental businesses and give people the oppertunity to catch up on their dental hygiene.
National Breast Cancer awareness- Appreciates the woman the have survived and remember the women that have lost their lives. Also, raising support for the woman that presently have this life threatening disease.
American Diabetes month- a fight against this disease and the people that are battling with life.
Lung Cancer month- Remembers the men and women that lost their lives to this disease. Supports the men and woman that presently have this disease and find ways to prevent it.
Safe Toys and Gifts month- The month of Christmas, this organization gives toys and gifts to pour children and children in orphanages.
When I finished this article, I looked back and realized that I am healthy and I am greatful for that. But there is something I can do each month, every year to save someone else’s life, to help out a child, give out an organ. Or make it simple and donate a dollar, or go on the national walks and support!
