Some products claim to be natural and gentle on baby’s skin. Yet, if one looks more closely at the ingredients, they may find harsh chemicals and even possible carcinogens. The following skin care lines are truly natural and many have organic ingredients.
California Baby was founded by a mother who was concerned about the harsh “cleansing agents and synthetic fragrances” found in most baby washes. She set out on a mission to create natural baby products without “diethanolamine (DEA), sulfates, dyes, numbing agents, and ingredients that can trigger allergies in young ones or chemically sensitive adults.” Some of California Baby products are the super sensitive shampoo and body wash. There is also a super sensitive conditioner. An 8.5 oz bottle of each of these costs $11.49 on californiababy.com. There’s also a calming, tea tree and lavender, and calendula formulas. California Baby also sells SPF suncare, oils, diapering and other products. Many of these products can be bought in bulk sizes. California Baby is sold at Whole Foods, Babies R’ Us and Target. It is also sold at online retailers like diapers.com.
Nature’s Baby Organics
This is another company started by a mom who started looking into baby products after her daughter developed a rash. She began looking into ingredients that were “100 percent derived from nature.” She came up with Nature’s Baby Organics. Some of the products include the conditioner and detangler in vanilla-tangerine or lavender-chamomile. An eight-ounce bottle costs $10.95. There’s also the organic diaper ointment, organic baby oil and the shampoo and body wash. Most of the products contain organic aloe, calendula, chamomile or comfrey. There are not any sulfates, synthetic fragrances, DEA, Propylene Glycol, Parabens or Propylene Glycol. Even better, the bottles are BPA free.
Burt’s Bees has many products. All of them are paraben, sulfate, petrochemical and phthalate Free. Some of the products include the baby bee fragrance free shampoo and wash. This costs between $7.00 and $9.00 at most stores. If you are interested in trying out many of the products, try the Getting Started Kit for $13.00. This product includes smaller versions of Baby Bee apricot baby oil, buttermilk lotion, shampoo & wash, buttermilk soap, diaper ointment and a few other products. Burt’s Bees uses natural ingredients like buttermilk, apricot oil and aloe vera. The result is a delicious smell. Finally, Burt’s Bees does not test on animals.
