Bryan Fuller from Dead Like Me and famed Director Guillermo del Toro are rumored to be the new brains behind the NBC remake of the 1960’s comedy monster television show, The Munsters.
The original Munsters Show was a satire of shows of that time such as Leave it to Beaver mixed and monster movies. The new show is said to be more modern with modern family issues and a hottness and sexual edge of True Blood. NBC cannot go as far as HBO does with it’s hit vampire show but we can hope that it will be good.
The Munsters was a television show about a family of monsters. The were more blue collar than The Addams Family and would venture outside more than than their eccentric cousins. The Munsters were owned by Universal Studios and therefore could use the copyrighted images of their movie monsters. Thus Herman has the typical Frankenstein look because of their ability to use the movie monsters images of the time.
There is no word as to when the show will begin filming. So, Lexington viewers, I know there are a lot of remakes coming- Hawaii Five O, Wild Wild West, and Wonder Woman (yet another rumor for a tv show–how many rumors before we get something).
Will this be just another supernatural show like The Gates, Happy Town, and Moonlight to last one season and then be canceled?
