Grub Street got a first look at the new Bedford Hill Cafe opening near the corner of Franklin Avenue and Greene Avenue. The new java house is the brainchild of former barista of Greenpoint’s Champion Coffee, Allison Stuart.
In an interview with Grub Street, the Austin native stated, “I was kind of done with Greenpoint.” Your loss North Brooklyn.
Her boyfriend, Brady Dollarhide (a visual artist with very good name), designed the interior of the cafe which kind of looks like a tripped out 60s diner/ice cream parlor in a Terry Gilliam picture. And that’s cool.
Describing the interior, Grub Street writes “With salvaged dark wooden doors used as paneling, mismatched blue tiles, vintage wallpapers, a cork-top bar, and warm lights, the café feels as much like a home as a place of business. Furniture and building materials were either purchased on the cheap from Build It Green, or they were found (one wall uses construction board ripped down by Brooklyn’s last tornado).”
The cafe will serve muffins, bagels, and blue cheese and pecan scones baked by Ovenly and New Yorker Bagels.
The coffee for the new joint comes from Milwaukee roaster, Anodyne Coffee.
