The New York Giants will head down to Jerry’ House for a huge NFC East game with season ending implications for the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football October 25th. Tony Romo and his Dallas Cowboys teammates have shown time and time again they cannot get out of their own way. This game will either be the end of Jerry Jones Super Bowl XLV hopes or the beginning of an inconceivable run to host Super Bowl XLV in February.
New York Giants Defense vs Dallas Cowboys Offense
It took a few weeks for the New York Giants defense to kick into gear but the defensive line has led the charge in the last three games. Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck have led the way for the resurgent New York Giants defense. Tuck and Umenyiora have steamrolled their opponents offensive lines of late and when they do not get to the quarterback they still cause chaos.
Tony Romo has so many offensive weapons on the Dallas Cowboys and it is hard for him to choose his poison. Romo can spray the ball to any receiver that is open. One play it could be rookie Dez Bryant, the next it could be little utilized Roy Williams. This is not even taking into consideration his two default targets, Miles Austin and Jason Witten. Racking up yardage is not Romo’s problem. Closing the deal and not making stupid penalties is the Dallas Cowboys issue. The New York Giants has the slight edge over the Dallas Cowboys high powered offense.
Dallas Cowboys Defense vs New York Giants Offense
The Dallas Cowboys defense has improved over the beginning of the season. DeMarcus Ware appears to be back to 100% and he is leading a group of hard hitting defenders scattered about the front seven for the Dallas Cowboys defense. Defense will be the key if the Dallas Cowboys want to be the first team since 1970 to make the NFL Playoffs after starting 1-4.
Eli Manning and the New York Giants offense has stepped up in the last few weeks. Hakeem Nicks is back to 100% healthy after sitting out a few weeks and Manning has three other capable receivers: Mario Manningham, Steve Smith and Mike Boss. The noticeable improvement for the New York Giants has been their running game. Ahmad Bradshaw is starting to break off some yards and Brandon Jacobs is getting comfortable as the short yardage back. The New York Giants offense has a slight edge over the Dallas Cowboys defense.
