During HBO’s Hard Knocks series, Head Coach Rex Ryan, wanted nothing other than to have the best record in the NFL and after six weeks of football the Jets have just that.
He also presented us with one of the best one-liners ever in sports after ripping into his team for two minutes “Now let’s go eat a ******* snack!”
After what one may call a “hiccup” in the opening game against the Baltimore Ravens the Jets have now rattled off 5 straight wins and are 3-0 in the all important AFC East rankings.
“Parcells is right: You are what your record says you are,” Ryan said Monday after he gave his team the rest of the week off. “We can improve as a team. I think we will. … Absolutely, it’s hard to say we’re not the best team in the league.
It’s tough to argue with Ryan’s statement as the Jets have played tough competitive football with and without star corner Darelle Revis, but there are still flaws that usually would hold this team back.
The Jets defense is ranked 17th in the NFL, which many thought would be the strong point of this team.
Not many thought the resurgence of RB – LaDainian Tomlinson and not the up and coming Shaun Green, would carry this Jets team into the bye week. The Jets hold the number four rushing offense in the NFL behind the former Charger.
The Jets are ranked 25th in the NFL in passing yards per game and that all impressive Jets defense is giving up 229 yards passing per game which ranks 22nd in the NFL.
Because of the competitiveness of this NFL season it’s very possible the Jets are the best team in the NFL and will continue to talk trash and back it up.
