Week Two of fantasy football kicks off September 19th and some of the best run defenses will face some of the best running backs in the NFL. The challenge for fantasy football owners will be to sit a number one back if necessary. Believe it or not, Chris Johnson’s perfomance in the first NFL game of 2010 was the third best points day in fantasy football behind Matt Forte and an amazing day by the Houston Texans Arian Foster.
Many Chris Johnson owners are asking the question. Do I sit Johnson against the Pittsburgh Steelers? It is a tough decision but unless the fantasy football team has Frank Gore as the third running back (not possible) Johnson is still a start. One prediction on Johnson. He will be held to 70 yards but may still find his way into the end zone. The following five running backs should sit out week two in fantasy football.
Shonn Greene New York Jets #1 Running Back to Sit in Fantasy Football Week Two
The New York Jets offense is miserable and every NFL team is going to throw nine guys in the box and make Mark Sanchez beat them. This will lead to zero opportunities for Shonn Greene to either catch balls out of the back field and his running game will also suffer. Greene did not help his cause by fumbling the ball and running tentatively afterwards. Sit Shonn Greene down this week and hope things improve in New York.
Cedric Benson Cincinnati Bengals #2 Running Back to Sit in Fantasy Football Week Two
An injury to Cedric Benson, listed on the September 16 injury report, makes him a scary start. Add in the Baltimore Ravens defense and Benson may not even get the start in this AFC North battle for the division lead. Take advantage of the listed injury and pick up an extra running back off the waiver wire. Sit Cedric Benson in the second week of fantasy football.
Felix Jones Dallas Cowboys #3 Running Back to Sit in Fantasy Football Week Two
Fantasy football owners have been waiting for Felix Jones to break out for years now and he does always show glimpses of potential greatness. The Chicago Bears are not a good match up for Jones cutting speedy style. The linebackers and front defensive line of the Bears will eat Jones alive in this game. Sit Felix Jones in the second week of fantasy football.
Joseph Addai Indianapolis Colts #4 Running Back to Sit in Fantasy Football Week Two
The Indianapolis Colts take on the New York Giants and an already hammered Joseph Addai will take on a fast New York Giants defensive line. Running games are won in the trenches and the New York Giants will win the war at the line of scrimmage. Sit Joseph Addai in the second week of fantasy football.
Pierre Thomas New Orleans Saints #5 Running Back to Sit in Fantasy Football Week Two
The New Orleans Saints may not throw as much as they did in their first week victory over the Minnesota Vikings but Pierre Thomas may find it hard to get on track. The San Francisco 49ers come home with an 0-1 record and a chip on their shoulder. The 49ers should be able to clog up the middle and the line of scrimmage but they will give up long passes and intermediate passes from Brees. Sit Pierre Thomas in the second week of fantasy football.
