It’s only week two of the regular NFL season, but already a dominance has shown through. An AFC team this year will win the Superbowl.
First, let’s take a look at the NFC. Which team after two weeks looks Superbowl bound?
The Minnesota Vikings are 0-2. And let’s face it, for the first time in his career Brett Favre plays like he is too old. The Vikings defense is outstanding and so is Adrian Peterson, but is it enough?
The New Orleans Saints are 2-0 and look okay, but not great. The big play on every play ability is lacking. It does not mean the Saints cannot pick it up again this year and get back to the big show. But, right now they are an average team.
The Green Bay Packers beat the Buffalo Bills easily last week, but the Bills are one of, if not, the worst team in the NFL. I’m not convinced this is a Superbowl winning team.
The Dallas Cowboys are 0-2 and have not shown anything. They always get better as the season goes on, but I do not think they will even win their division.
The New York Giants are 1-1, but have not shown a lot either. Neither game they played did the Giants look like a contender. Eli Manning looks lost as does the defense.
The problem is, right now those are the five top teams. Out of those, right now it looks like the Packers and the Saints will play in the division title game. I would choose the Saints to reach the Superbowl again.
In the AFC there are several teams who are very, very good.
The Indianapolis Colts are the defending AFC Champions. They were not outstanding against Houston, but made the Giants look second rate on Sunday night.
The Houston Texans won again, in a close match, with Washington. But in DC it is never easy to win. Houston is on top of its game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-0 and Big Ben is not playing yet. If they are this good with a second string QB they are contenders.
The Tennessee Titans are 1-1, but have shown they are strong. Do not count them out.
The New York Jets played outstanding against the New England Patriots. We know their defense is good. If the offense gets on track, watch out.
The New England Patriots can never be counted out. Bill Belichek always has a few tricks up his sleeve and Tom Brady is as good as there is in football.
The San Diego Chargers are always slow starters. They always seem to be extremely talented, but never quite make it. This could be the year.
After week 2, I’m taking Houston and Pittsburgh to make it to the AFC championship with Houston winning.
But, just by a quick synopsis, it is easy to see where the best teams fall. Most are in the AFC this year. I would take Indy, Houston, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, NYJets, New England or San Diego to beat any contenders in the NFC.
Like I always say, that’s what I see right now. I may change my mind after week 3.
