For any woman who enjoys watching the NFL — you already know that finding fashionable attire to wear to a game is certainly no easy task. Luckily, just this week the NFL launched its new Fit for You collection at women.nfl.com, featuring trendy, football fan apparel for the ladies. The NFL Look Book is packed with clothing displaying feminine details that any woman will get a kick out of wearing — fashionable items modeled by the wives of famous players and coaches.
Aside from fabulous fitted jerseys representing your favorite NFL team, the collection includes sexy t-shirts, jackets, purses, bangle bracelets and much more. Prices range from around $19.99 to 149.99. Current collection preview available in the NFL Look Book.
Why do we love the new line for female football fanatics? Although the League has retailed clothing for women over the past 10 years, the Fit For You collection features a fresh perspective on game day apparel just for us. Women no longer have to worry about sporting an oversized jersey designed to fit a boy or a man, or struggling to find apparel designed for our body types. The new line of clothing will be retailed in a variety of popular retail stores throughout the United States, like Kohl’s and DICK’s Sporting Goods.
To gain a bit of media buzz, the NFL is sponsoring a contest called “How Do You Strut Your Fit?” According to
women.nfl.com, “We want to know all about your NFL style and how you show your team spirit. Submit a video of yourself (:60 or less) and tell us what inspires your game day style and how it differs if you watch at home or go to the game. Describe your outfit head to toe and why it’s your favorite. We want to hear what you love about NFL women’s apparel, and how you incorporate it into your lifestyle.”
What is the prize? The contest provides a perfect opportunity for any NFL fan who happens to be a fashionista, to score a trip for two (2) to Super Bowl XLV in North Texas on February 6th, 2011.
Women are definitely an integral part of the NFL’s fan base, and their numbers are on the rise. The NY Times states, “According to research by the Nielsen Company, an average of 41.9 million women 18 and older watched Super Bowl XLIV – the most on record, and more than watched the Academy Awards this year. Additional research by the N.F.L. and Nielsen showed more than 45 million women watch N.F.L. games each weekend.”
The print ad campaign for the collection will appear in magazines like InStyle and People, with catchy headlines like “Who Says Football Isn’t Pretty?” and many others. We are pretty pumped, because we already know the new Fit For You line is going to be a huge hit for the NFL. In fact, football season suddenly seems better than ever for countless women throughout the country. Fashion and football collide — fabulous.
