It’s almost mid-season and time to start handing out Progress Reports for teams thus far in the season. We’re going to be strict, but fair. So here it goes…
Jets (A+) – Rex Ryan’s team is playing the defense we expect even while Revis held out and later was injured. The big story here is the play of the LT. Maybe an MVP performance?
Patriots (B+) – The defense hasn’t played up to Pats standards but they’re still winning games.
Dolphins (B) – Chad Henne seems to be developing nicely and the defense is playing well.
Bills (F) – Easily the worst team in football.
Steelers (A+) – No big Ben? No problem! He’s back now and the Defense was solid without him. With him back this could be the NFL’s only dominant team.
Ravens (B+) – Flaco is finally coming around and the arrival of Anquan Boldin has already paid dividends.
Bengals (C-) – Batman seemed to lose Robin on the way and what’s up with Carson Palmer?
Browns (F) – Did you guys actually watch footage of Delhomme the last few years?
Texans (B) – Glad the offense is so good, because the defense is terrible! Arian Foster may be another early season MVP candidate.
Titans (B) – Solid defensive play and Chris Johnson keep this team competitive.
Colts (C) – Injuries have hit this team very hard. Anyone got Marvin Harrison’s phone number. Payton may need targets with Clark, Garcon, Collie and Gonzalez all banged up.
Jaguars (C-) You have to feel bad for MJD. If he didn’t see an eight man front each week, he might have a stellar season.
Chiefs (B) – The best coached team in the NFL and a brutal defense make them tough.
Raiders (D) – The Jason Campbell experiment doesn’t appear to be working.
Broncos (C) – They are missing their defensive playmaker badly. Orton has been a pleasant surprise.
Chargers (D) – No LT, no Vincent Jackson, no Antonio Cromartie and no winning season. You do the math.
Giants (B+) -The G-man defense is back and the running backs are as brutal as they come. This team may surprise people in January.
Eagles (B+) – Andy Reid knows quarterbacks! Mike Vick is the comeback player of the year!
Redskins (C) – McNabb needs another year in Shanahan’s system and he deparately needs play makers. Here’s an idea…trade Haynesworth to get one.
Cowboys (F) – The most undisciplined team in football. Can you draft a new head coach?
Bears (C) – Please find an offensive line before you get Cutler killed! A confusing division keeps this team competitive.
Packers (C) – Aaron Rodgers is trying to reach the elite class of quarterbacks. He needs a healthy team to do it. Injuries may be too much to overcome for the Pack.
Vikings (D) – Who ordered the 41 year old quarterback? Randy Moss may help revive the Favre magic, but is it too late? In this division they may have a shot.
Lions (C) – They are quietly putting together a potent offense in Motown.
Falcons (B) – Matt Ryan is ice and Roddy White is a weapon. Not sold on the D!
Saints (B-) – Saints may be calling Deuce if any more backs get hurt. Saints looked a lot better when that first round bust Reggie Bush was out there. Maybe he’s not a bust after all.
Buccaneers (B) – Raheem Morris is doing a great job coaching a team without much talent.
Panthers (D) – The party may be over for John Fox. This is a bad football team.
Cardinals (D) – Tell us again…Why did you cut Matt Leinert?
Seahawks (C) – Maybe Pete Carroll is an NFL coach.
Rams (C+) – This is gonna be a good football team and Sam Bradford is for real!
49ers (D-) – No way this team should look this bad. Singletary deserves the hot seat!
Officiating (D) – We have seen some terrible calls this year and it seems to be getting worse.
Roger Goodell (D-) – Mr. Commish…Do you want the guys to start wearing flags? Enough with the crazy fines. We get the point!
Playoffs – Don’t talk about playoffs! You kiddin me! This league is way too confusing for playoff predictions. Wait until second half progress reports and then we’ll talk playoffs.
