After falling behind 4-0 in the second inning, the Braves forced extra innings, winning with a run in the eleventh.
Braves’ starter Tommy Hanson surrendered a two out three-run homer to Pat Burrell in the bottom of the first. Cody Ross scored on a single by Matt Cain in the second inning to give San Francisco a 4-0 lead.
The Giants appeared to be in line to take a 2-0 series lead behind a solid performance by starter Matt Cain, who allowed only one unearned run in six and two-thirds innings, leaving the game with a 4-1 lead.
Atlanta struck again in the top of the eighth as Derrek Lee scored on a throwing error by Pablo Sandoval and Alex Gonzales hit a two-run double to tie the game at 4-4.
The score remained deadlocked through nine innings, forcing the first extra innings game of the postseason. The Braves took the lead in the top of the eleventh when Rick Ankiel hit a solo homer with one out off of Ramon Ramirez. Kyle Farnsworth secured Atlanta’s victory in the bottom of the eleventh to even the 2010 NLDS at one game apiece.
The series moves to Atlanta for Game Three, Sunday at 4:30 Eastern.
