Ferndale, Michigan police report that homeowners in Oakland County have been hit with a series of copper thefts recently. Pulled over for a traffic violation, 22 year-old Andrew Davis and Jeremy Menifield were discovered with copper plumbing pipes in the back seat. Davis and Menifield were also caught with a list of names and addresses in Oakland county. When Ferndale police checked homes listed on East Webster and Ardmore, they discovered that these homes were missing copper plumbing pipes.
When the pair were apprehended, one was driving on a suspended license and the other had a prior warrant out for his arrest. Davis and Menifield were arraigned on a 10 year felony charge for breaking and entering. Magistrate James Brennan of Ferndale’s 43rd District Court set bond for the two at $10,000.
