How much do you know about your subway’s art?
The Municipal Art Society (MAS) offers us an opportunity to learn about the subway’s art with its “MTA Arts for Transit: Downtown & Central Brooklyn” touron Saturday, October 16th from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. The tour is guided and will stop to explore contemporary artwork in the subway, so you will need your Metro Card. Tickets are $15 ($10 for MAS members).
Who knew there was enough art in downtown’s subway for a tour? I confess, not me. This is a good chance to discover it.
The MAS is also holding a “Summit for New York City” on October 21st and 22nd. The summit will focus on the city’s livability and “discuss whether the many diverse corners of New York can retain a small town feel while facing significant increases in population.” Tickets are $120 for one day and $195 for two days for non-members. The summit will not only cover Brooklyn; it will cover all of NYC.
These two events are unique ways to take part in the city that you love, hate, or love to hate.
Till next time, Downtown B.
