The message in “God Calling” today is about Jesus’ touch. It talks about His gently guiding touch when we need Him to point the way; and it also speaks of the power in His touch. His Touch has power to raise the dead. Just His voice has power to raise the dead. There are a couple of occasions when He said it was done and healing had taken place. He didn’t have to go to the person to touch them or even speak directly to them. When He healed the crippled hand in the Synagogue, He didn’t say a word about healing or faith, but merely, “Stretch out your hand.” So, because of His perfect perception, thought, and heart, healing had taken place.
Jesus touches people through us in various ways. We are his body in the earth. When we give of what we have, when we hug someone, smile at them, listen to them tell us their troubles, show compassion and caring -Jesus can touch them through us. It is incredible to see what Jesus’ touch can do in a life. I know what His touch has done in mine. Jesus can also touch others through things that we do and in how we live our personal lives. Even the way we handle our relationship with the Lord, the way in which we relate to Him is a way in which He can touch someone.
I love to praise the Lord, and the most powerful manifestations of the Holy Spirit come when we worship Jesus. The whole atmosphere around me changes when I praise Him; when I worship Him. As I was praying this morning, the Lord gave me a revelation about when I was worshipping Him recently. He let me see in the “spirit” as He walked through the group of people gathered there, touching an arm, or placing His hand on someone’s head; stroking another’s hair gently like a doting father with His children. It was so awesome and so humbling. I was literally awestruck. I could see myself sitting, praising and worshiping Him, but in the spirit, I was on my face in humility and worship. I was “caught up” in that spirit and witnessing Jesus touching the “dear ones.” I am reminded of the Peter and John’s prayer (Acts 4:23-31) “…Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the Name of your Holy servant Jesus.”
The revelation was so awesome I had to pray. “Lord when I enter your gates, only let me enter with thanksgiving and praise. Let me worship you in the splendor of your holiness. Let me not “sing” about how mighty I am in You, but let me praise how mighty You are in me. Let me worship you and give you praise, Jesus, for there is none like you. Let me worship You from my heart and in spirit and truth. Let me worship You in your sanctuary and be enrapt in Your precious Holy Spirit, Lord. Amen.
