My God, can we please quit ragging on any past or current administration for the war in Iraq. None of us have ever even been there for Pete’s sake. What do we know? All we know is what the few people we each associate with know; nothing more. It’s a war already, what do you want?
War is war and war is hell. That’s all there is to it. Of course no one enjoys war, what’s the matter with you? To even think that any administration would ever approach war, like children do a sand box, is ridiculous. It’s not a game and it ain’t no toy! They hate it as much as we do, as much as anyone does. The minute we start to individualize war is when it becomes someone’s personal nightmare.
War means death and many dollars, unpopularity, danger, misery, there can be no positive with war. That hasn’t stopped the world though – we will always be at war; someplace, somehow. Do you think our brave volunteers over in Iraq and everyplace else in the world, hate war? Why don’t you ask them? Ask them, as they try to create stability by assisting the Iraqis with their everyday chores. Ask them if they hate what they do.
For someone to pretend they are some sort of political guru and broadcast, “Bush took us there for the oil.” or “We didn’t have to go in there.” or “Saddam never did anything to us.” doesn’t do a thing for their credibility. None of us are in any position to spout off about anything. Especially something we know so little about. I don’t know anything about it either, but then I’m not making any broad scale claims am I? Besides, if we are there for the oil, then where is our oil benefit? Last time I filled up I paid $2.75 a gallon.
And another thing, quit crying about America cleaning up after the mess. That’s part of creating stability in an already war torn country. We have always done that. Iraq is no different than any other war. That’s what makes America, America. We don’t just throw the dead fish up on the table and walk away to let it stink; we take care of it, we clean it up. We know what war is; you don’t have to try to educate anyone on war. That’s why we stick around to patch things up; because war is a mess.
Speak in sincerity to someone you personally know who has spent time in Iraq, on the battle field, getting shot at and shooting back. See what they have to say about what is going on over there. I have done just that. I don’t know very many, but I do know some. They all tell me the very same thing “They need us so bad over there.”
I’m talking about 20, 21, 22 year old young men with tears in their eyes after reading a skewed news article about Iraq. “They don’t tell you about the families we built houses for.” They say, or “They don’t mention the kids who cling to our legs as we try to walk through the streets, begging for any kind of a handout.” and “They don’t say anything about the women who thank us over and over for being there and for helping them and protecting them.”
The only Iraqis who don’t want us there are the warmongers; the self-proclaimed tribal dictators who want chaos and tyranny. Normal families, Mom and Dad with a couple of kids, count their blessings that America is on call. Deep inside, everyone, Iraqis and Americans alike, want the same thing, a chance to make a decent living, live somewhere safe and raise their little family. That’s what America is trying to do by creating stability and assisting the Iraqis.
Get out of your selfish little, hippie era, peacenik, cocoon, long enough to wake up and take a look. Don’t just take Iraq as another cause for you to broadcast your lame agenda on. Iraq is flesh and blood. Iraq is living and they want to keep living. They want what you have, but don’t realize the true value.
Iraq is a country full of people who have lived in terror their entire life. Sort of like if you had to go to bed every night, knowing there were rapists and burglars right outside your door and your window. You can see them, you can hear them, and you can smell the smoke from their cigarettes! Could you go to sleep? These people have had to. The very, very little bit we have done over there up to this point, has made that country so much more livable, you couldn’t even measure it.
If you want to cry about something cry about your journalists who don’t tell you the good news, only the bad. How many times have you heard how many bad guys were killed in that ambush? How about Americans? Of course, our near sighted, one sided, liberal journalists only see one side of any story, the side that will get push-overs like you all riled up. They are right on the button when they want to tell you about how many good guys got killed, but they sure don’t tell you how many bad guys our brave soldiers and warriors took out before they died for you, do they?!
Even now, in our re-stabilization efforts, we try to extend electrical service, water service, communications, sewers, everything we in America take for granted. We try to get it done and we lose men and women in every attempt. But the only way the American public will ever hear about these projects, and the amazing progress, is if we know someone who comes home from over there and they are willing to talk bout it.
No one will ever write the story about the widow with four kids who was given a new home; it isn’t un-American enough. They won’t tell you about the young soldier who shared his lunch with three Iraqi children because he knew they were hungry; that’s not news. What we are doing over there had to be done; its just that no one else would do it.
I’m a 61 year old, overweight, over comfortable, secure Grampa – and I approve of this message. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all our American children standing in harm’s way all over the world so I can continue to be overweight and comfortable; you by God for certain have my 100% + support!!!
