Pahgre’s Restaurant in Montrose, Colorado opened up a few years ago and has quickly become a favorite among the locals. If you happen to be in the Montrose, Colorado area and are looking for a good place to eat, my recommendation would be to stop at Pahgre’s Restaurant which is right on Highway 550 in Montrose, Colorado.
Pahgre’s is an Italian restaurant specializing in pizza, pasta, and salads. You’ll find good meals, very good service, and good prices at Pahgre’s Restaurant. I admit that I’m hooked and visit there quite frequently.
Pahgre’s Restaurant is not your typical Italian restaurant. As you enter the restaurant the décor is not the typical Tuscany look. It’s very contemporary with beautiful photographs of southwestern Colorado hanging on the walls. Pahgre’s Restaurant has more of a local feel than Italian and the locals here like that.
Without a doubt, Pahgre’s Restaurant has the best pizza in Montrose, Colorado and their salads are delicious and huge. They also have calzones, paninis, and subs. Their prices are average, their service is very good and it’s a great place to stop for a good meal.
This is the best place in Montrose, Colorado to eat pizza. The crust is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside-the way it should be. Pahgre’s Restaurant names most of it’s pizzas after local mountains and places near Montrose, Colorado. One of my favorites is the Grand Mesa Mediterranean pizza that has spinach, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, feta cheese, garlic oil sauce, and chicken. It’s delicious although I usually substitute shrimp for the chicken. There’s a Thai Pie, a La Garita Pie, a Tomboy Cheesesteak Pie named after the Tomboy mine, and the Motherlode Pie.
There’s more pizzas on the menu and they all come in three sizes; individual, large, and extra large.
If a good salad is what you’re looking for, Pahgre’s Restaurant has great salads and they’re plenty big. My favorite is Popeye’s Passion which, of course, has spinach, crumbled bacon, goat cheese, sunflower seeds, red onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, and red pepper served with their Honey Mustard dressing. They also have a My Big Fat Greek Salad and a Coxcomb Cobb salad. Their Antipasti Avalanche with Italian meats and cheeses is very filling and very big.
Pahgre’s salads come in two sizes; a small as a side, or an entree.
Pastas are great here too, and they have several to choose from. There’s the Ridgeline Ravioli served with a zesty tomato sauce; a Purgatory Pesto that has a creamy basil pesto sauce with vegetables served on Fettuccine noodles; a Chicken Parmesan Al Forno, and a Paghsagna which is Pahgre’s lasagna with meat sauce.
The dough that Pahgre’s Restaurant uses is very good and their calzones are excellent. They are all served with a marinara sauce for dipping. My husband always gets The Uncompahgre which has spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms. It’s filled with meat and is too much meat for my taste buds. I prefer the Unaweep Canyon which has roasted red peppers, spinach, and mushrooms. I usually add chicken to that.
Pahgre’s Restaurant uses locally grown and produced items as much as possible. They usually have a daily special that includes a locally grown vegetable such as Olathe sweet corn.
Pahgre’s is open daily from 11 am and they’re located in south Montrose on Highway 550 in the Oxbow Crossing Center. Pahgre’s has take out service and you can make reservations by calling Pahgre’s at 970 249-6442.
