This painted gourd witch is a fun Halloween craft project. My sister gave me this club gourd already dried and cleaned, so I just had the fun job of painting it! Gourds need to be dry and clean before being painted. There’s information online to learn the correct way to do this if your gourd isn’t ready to paint. This painted gourd witch is a Halloween decoration that everyone will love!

Halloween Craft Project #6 – Directions To Make The Painted Gourd Witch
Basecoat gourd with gesso or white acrylic paint. Paint the stem end with Black using a large flat brush to form the witch’s hat. The rest of the gourd is painted green.
Form the witch’s nose from clay. Form a basic long nose with the clay. Put it in place on the gourd and shape it. Mark the gourd with a pencil so you know where to glue the finished nose. Looking at a picture of a witch will help you shape the nose. Push the nostrils into the clay with the wrong end of a paint brush. Add a small ball of clay to the end of the nose for a wart. Roll another ball of clay for a chin wart and shape to gourd. Bake as directed.
For the witch’s hat brim, measure around the gourd where it will sit. Cut a circle out of the Foamies sheet. Cut a small hole in the middle to fit over the gourd’s stem.
The witch’s hair is made of black craft yarn. Cut yarn in lengths twice as long as you’d like hair to hang. Cut a ½” wide strip of the black Foamies sheet long enough to fit around the gourd. Find the middle of the foam strip. Sew the bangs first, using a sewing machine. Stitch down the middle of yarn pieces. Next, add the long hair on either side of the bangs. When finished sewing the hair, use white glue to attach hair strip to gourd. Let dry.
Pull the hat brim over the stem of the gourd. Glue it on top of the hair strip. Cut and glue a piece of Halloween ribbon to the gourd as a band around the hat. Glue a decorative button to the ribbon.
Glue the nose and chin wart to the gourd. Shade with the green paint used for face. Sponge the cheeks with a rouge red. Paint the witch’s eyes with white eye, lavender irises, black pupils, and white highlights. Lips are a black line. All facial features are painted with a #0 liner brush.
Use a darning needle to bore a small hole through the top of the stem. Tie a piece of monofilament line through the hole. Hang your bewitching painted gourd witch to enjoy this Halloween.
