The Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) is a Sutter Health affiliate that provides health care in four counties in the San Francisco Bay Area, comprised of Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties. The Palo Alto Medical Foundation provides Urgent Care Center with a team of dedicated, high-quality and compassionate professionals that offer timely care to all medical conditions that are not emergencies, but still require treatments within 24 hour.
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation has physicians that are board-certified, who often serve the family medicine physicians or pediatricians who see patients in the Urgent Care setting. These physicians provide care for patients of all ages and treat acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
The conditions that the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Urgent Care Unit looks after include accidents and falls, sprain and broken bones, back problems, breathing difficulties, severe abdominal pain, bleeding or cuts, lacerations or open wounds that require stitches, high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, severe sore throat, severe coughing and mild to moderate asthma.
On the other hand, the Emergency Care Unit of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation looks into true emergencies such as life-threatening accidents, difficulty in breathing, unconsciousness, severe bleeding, poisoning, chest pain or pressure, moderate to severe burns, convulsions or seizures, serious head, neck or back injury, loss of limb or severe broken bones.
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation warns that a visit to the Emergency Room without an actual emergency can be costly and inefficient. It also detracts medical care from individuals who truly need emergency care.
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation Urgent Care Centers are open day and night, including weekends and most holidays. Their office hours may vary by location. In cases when your regular doctor’s office is not open, such as in the evenings, holidays or weekends, and you need urgent care, the extended hours clinic provides extended hours to provide easy access to medical care for both children and adults. Services are available to all residents and travelers in the mid-Peninsula community.
It is best to make an appointment by calling 650-259-1674 before going to the clinic starting at 9 a.m. on weekdays, 8:30 a.m. on weekends and 10:30 a.m. on holidays.
Insurance coverage is available to PPO patients. The Palo Alto Medical Foundation has an agreement with several major PPO insurance plans that the foundation bills on the patient’s behalf. It is best to check first before making an appointment with Urgent Care in regards to the PPO plans, because they vary. The Palo Alto Medical Foundation collects the co-pay prior to the office visit for HMO patients.
