The latest member of Panasonic’s video recorders, the TA-1 Full HD 1080p pocket-sized camcorder, was created for easy use, just another plus as far as I’m concerned. TA-1 has MP4 recording, and the user can shoot full HD video and 8 mega pixel HD stills. The software is built in, so you can directly upload to YouTube, Facebook, or Apple ® iFrame video format (960 x 540/30p), which is great for MAC users. It means those with MAC can import quickly and maintain small files.
I was amazed that Panasonic really meant easy. The single function buttons include Power, Play, Record, Still Photo, LED light (on/off), and Delete. In addition, there is a center keypad for selecting additional options.
For all of us who have been wishing for a small, light, portable camcorder, TA-1 fits in the palm of your hand. The technical details are 2.09 inches (w) x .7 inches (d) x 4.09 inches (h), with a weight of .25 lb, including the battery and SD card.
Have you noticed that sometimes the best shots are in low light areas? Panasonic addressed that concern by giving the pocket cam the ability to shoot in low light settings. The fun doesn’t stop there, because they also offer built-in editing, featuring such things as a creative color option, so pictures can have sepia tone added, or photos can be changed to modified black and white images. The user can cut still photos out of a video clip while editing.
The digital zoom increases to 4x. Another crowd-pleasing feature is the Electrical Image Stabilization (E.I.S.), which minimizes hand-shaking issues. This is a good thing to keep in mind when you are thinking of gifts for people; it will help avoid those blurry shots.
We have Skype because of the long calls with friends and family around the world. Hurrah for Panasonic; the TA-1 Full HD 1080p pocket-sized camcorder also works as a web camera and microphone in correlation with Skype. Just use the USB port, which is included with the camera. For best results, use a high-performance CPU to achieve video conferencing with high-quality images.
The wrist strap, rechargeable battery, slide out USB arm, USB cable, AV cable, SD, SDHC, and SDXC, compatible to fit memory needs of different users, are included in the $169.95 price (plus the incidentals, like tax). It is available in red, purple, and dark grey colors, and is available through Amazon or Panasonic, if no store close to your home carries it (just one more thing that makes it great for gifting: you can have it delivered to the receiver’s address).
Recharging is simple. Connect the USB cord to the PC. However, use only the USB cord supplied with the camera package to prevent voiding the warranty.
