I was recently contacted a few days ago by a woman who needed the assistance of someone in the paranormal field. She started to tell me some of the things that her and her family were experiencing. She is not living in my state (Indiana), but I am willing to do what I can to help her. As a founder of a paranormal team there are things I can do to help. I have contacted a group in her area 72 hours ago and have not had a response yet.
This scenario got me thinking. Are there groups out there that are advertising their services, but are not really responding to their emails? I decided that I needed to look into this. How can I do this? I decided to pick 1 group from all 50 states. I sent them all an email stating that there was someone in their area experiencing activity such as being pushed down the stairs, being kicked, slapped, bitten, and bruised. This was happening to her children as well. These are legitimate claims, I did not lie about this part at all. I did start this out under false pretenses, but as soon as the group responded to me I came clean and told them what I was doing. Had my original email been honest up front, then all teams would have contacted me and the results would be invalid. If you have any experience in doing research then you will know that deception in research is sometimes needed to get accurate results. If you are one of the groups I contacted, again I apologize for wasting your time. I felt this was important. If you are one of the groups who responded back to me then KUDOS to you!
Some of the groups felt I was wasting their time and I was called a liar. I was also told that by me being deceitful gives all paranormal groups a bad name. I am sorry, but I do not feel this way. I felt that it is not a waste of time. I started investigating the paranormal to help others understand what they are experiencing and why. I want to help those in need of assistance. I have never not answered an email. Even the emails I have received where I felt I could not help them I still found them someone who could help. I have never charged anyone for my assistance. All costs are covered by us.
So on to the results. Out of 50 groups that were contacted I immediately got 5 auto responses. This is a good idea. At least the person who sent the email can have a time frame to expect a response. They all said within 24-48 hours. Those groups were right. I did hear from them within 48 hours. Then there were 5 groups who had bad email addresses. Yes I double checked to make sure I had it correct. 30 groups responded and were more than willing to help. With these results, what can be done to help these teams understand the importance of what we do? If you have a website and are offering your assistance then please keep your word and do what you set out to do. If for some reason you have website and maybe your team is no longer active, then maybe you should remove your website.
Is it possible that there are teams out there just doing this because it looked cool on TV? Yes, I believe there is. If you do not know what you are doing or have no intentions of helping others then maybe you should not be in the paranormal field. We have enough issues in the paranormal community, we do not need this issue. If you are looking to make a quick buck or get you 15 minutes of fame……..good luck, why don;t you try associating yourself with another field of study.
