While trying to cross a busy Birmingham street, a 47-year-old man was struck by a car in the early hours of October 4. Police say that the man apparently stepped out into oncoming traffic as he attempted to cross 14 Mile Road just west of Woodward Avenue. The speed limit at that section of 14 Mile is 35 miles per hour; however, the traffic had just gotten the green light.
The condition of the man was unknown late on Monday. However, police say that he was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak with a head injury and broken bones. The driver who hit him is not expected to be ticketed, as police say that he was not at fault.
