Ever wondered what happens in the museum after the doors are locked and the lights go out? You can find out at a sleepover at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park with their monthly Penguins and Pajamas.
Designed for kids between the ages of 6 and 17 and their adult chaperones, you have the run of the museum from 6 p.m. until storytime at 10:25 p.m. (or a movie at 10 p.m.). You’ll be able to enjoy exhibits like Extreme Mammals, Discovery Tidepool, and Rainforests of the World or opt to see the “Fragile Planet” Planetarium Show or hear the Alligator Talk at the Swamp. It’s bedtime and lights at 11 p.m., because breakfast is bright and early at 6:30 a.m.
The cost of breakfast, a commemorative gift, overnight parking, the penguin exhibit, the late-night snack and the overnight stay in the African Hall, Aquarium, Lower Swamp or East Pavilion is included in the $119 ticket price ($99 for members). The next dates are Saturday, Nov. 13,and Tuesday, Dec. 28. Order your tickets online.
