Everyone loves peanut butter cookies, unless of course you’re allergic to peanut butter. And, who doesn’t love Hershey’s chocolate kisses? Or, Hershey’s hugs (the white chocolate kisses with strips of chocolate)? I’m going to share with you my loved Peanut Butter Hugs and Kisses recipe. Keep in mind, these aren’t for people on low-fat or low-carb diets or low-anything diets. These are full-fledged, sugary, delicious treats. I encourage you to mix it up, add more or less of whatever you want.
Here is what you’ll need;
One cup of softened butter
About one and two thirds cups of white sugar
About a cup and a third of packed brown sugar
One and two thirds to two cups of creamy peanut butter (I suggest Reese’s Peanut Butter)
Two and a half cups of all-purpose flour
Two teaspoons of vanilla extract
One teaspoon of baking soda
One teaspoon of salt
And one bag of Hershey’s Kisses and Hugs
First thing is first; pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Beat the butter until it is creamy. Now, add the sugar and brown sugar and mix it all together. Add your eggs and beat the mixture. Add the vanilla and the peanut butter. Beat until a creamy consistency. Now slowly add the flour, baking soda and salt and mix until all of the ingredients are well blended.
Some people like to leave the cookie dough in the refrigerator before baking it. In this case, obviously do not preheat your oven until you plan on baking the cookies. You can leave the dough in there however long you want, when I choose to leave it in there, I leave it for about an hour.
Measure out tablespoons of dough and place them on a greased cookie sheet. Take a fork and dip it in sugar and press down on the cookies with the fork to make criss-crosses. You can either dip the fork in the sugar or sprinkle a little sugar on the cookie dough. Place the dough balls about three inches apart.
Now, place the cookies into the oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they are golden. Immediately when they are taken out of the oven, place either a Hershey Kiss or Hug into the center of the cookie. In my experience, the Hugs tend to melt, but they stay on the cookie and taste delicious!
Stick your cookies in the fridge so that the Hershey’s re-harden and you’re done! Enjoy!
