Many people are still wary of the iPhone. My parents and best friend fall into this category. They don’t trust touch screens, or just don’t see the point in spending the money for one. I’m going to let you in on how my iPhone changed the way I did things in my everyday life.
I’m not the best with directions, and MapQuest isn’t always available to me when I need it. Thankfully, my iPhone came with an app for Google Maps. Since most people carry their cell phones with them at all time, you will have your Google Maps right beside you when you need it most. Perhaps you aren’t familiar with what I am talking about. Have you heard of GPS? When combined with your iPhone, Google Maps becomes a handheld GPS system for your car! Type in the address of your destination and your iPhone screen will guide you using a detailed map complete with street names, highways, bodies of water, and terrain. If you are terrible at following verbal directions like myself, this one feature of the iPhone is worth spending the money.
Flip phones and other non-full screen phones are hard to see sometimes. Even if you have internet service through your phone, it isn’t your normal internet browser that you will be using. The iPhone uses a full internet browser that lets you search the net for anything and everything. If you type in a web address, you will be taken to a recognizable website! Much different than my Razor’s internet. Having a touch screen comes in handy here too. Instead of scrolling down forever to find the right link you want, you may use your own finger to select it. I love having a recognizable browser to work with when I am using my internet. It takes less time, and I don’t have to take my laptop everywhere I go.
Probably my favorite perk of having an iPhone is the case that I have for it. It is inevitable that you are going to drop your phone every once in a while. For some of us unlucky folks, that means dropping it in a puddle, or dropping it from a few feet up and watching it fall to its doom as our hearts sink to our stomachs. As soon as I bought my iPhone, I went to the closest Radio Shack to find a brand name “Otter Box Defender” case to keep it in. It gives you a few more seconds of safety when your phone falls in the toilet, and is virtually indestructible. The three layers of an Otter Box case keep your iPhone in top condition to matter what you do to it. And it comes in lots of different colors! Here is a YouTube video of an iPhone in an Otter Box case.
There are many videos on the Otter Box Defender case. People love to test their limits, so there are tons of Otter Box videos on YouTube.
In my personal experience, I have dropped, broken, washed, and fried my past phones within about 6 months of buying them. I have had my iPhone for a year now and my normal activities and daily life have not affected my iPhone, but my iPhone has definitely affected my normal activities and daily life. Check one out for yourself. Once you feel the difference it makes, you will never go back to flip phones.
