I never used to think about my wedding as a child. Most girls could tell you every detail by age six, I however couldn’t even tell you if I wanted one. Though now in current situations, I’ve been thinking a lot about how my wedding will look, but even still, its been a difficult process. In a rush to try and figure out what I needed and what I wanted, I turned to one of my favorite movies, Bride Wars.
I love everything about this movie, from the characters, to the fashions, everything was perfect. The number one thing that I knew I needed in my wedding was the idea of the Tiffany box that Kate Hudson’s character, Liv, pines for so desperately. With that in mind, my wedding is planned to be a white and beautiful Tiffany blue. Every accent piece down the the table runners is to be Tiffany blue, including bride’s maids dresses, ribbons, and of course my “something blue”.
What is more important than the colors, is my dress itself. In the movie, Liv gets a gorgeously crafted Vera Wang wedding gown than any woman would give their future husband to have. Unfortunately, Vera Wang isn’t exactly something you can pick up in your local mall, and even more unfortunately, that exact dress was a redesigned Vera specifically for the movie. To get around this, I plan on finding the biggest, puffiest, tulle filled dress, just like Liv’s, and instead of a purple sash, Tiffany blue will be cinching my waist on the big day. This one from David’s Bridal is almost perfect, just a few tweaks and I could close my eyes and pretend its Vera!
The biggest part of this movie is where Liv and Emma are having their weddings, the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Another budget bust and long waiting list in one simple venue. However, I couldn’t get my Vera Wang dress, I was able to get my name on the waiting list for the Plaza Hotel, even if it is quite a long wait, and a cut to my guest list, it’s worth it to be in such a beautiful venue with so much bridal history behind it.
Weddings can be difficult to plan; overwhelming, expensive, tiring, but most of all they’re a blast! These three big details along with other small ones from the movie (including a small flower bobby pin in my hair), will make for my perfect wedding, and hopefully it can inspire all you brides to be as well!
