When you’re trying to create a particular theme for a dinner or party table you have several options. Make or buy a centerpiece that represents that theme or lay out place mats with designs or images that coordinate with the theme you’re creating. Another way to contribute to a table theme is to use napkin rings. Many types of napkin rings can be made by the average person and they can be used to complete holiday dinner themes or a specific look for a party.
Napking rings can be made in many different ways but one of the easiest ways is to use an empty bathroom tissue or paper towel roll. The cardboard tubes are perfect the perfect fit for the napkins. Cut the roll into same-size sections to make the ring itself.
Make another type of napkin ring by cutting a strip of cardboard and turning it into a circle shape. Or, fold it into equal sections and tape or glue the ends together to create a square-shaped napkin ring. No matter what shape you make the rings it’s easy to turn them into photo napkin rings.
When you cut strips of scrapbook paper you can add to the theme of the napkin rings. If using cardboard tubes wrap them with fabric or paper to decorate.
Use family photos to make napkin rings for home. Create baby pictures to use at a baby shower. Or, make pictures of a couple to use at a wedding meal. there are many other themes you can create from small pictures, like Native-American napkin rings, lighthouses, or just ordinary, colorful images.
Pictures can be copies from your home computer or you can just cut squares from scrapbook paper. Cut the small pictures out and glue them to squares of cardboard. If you’re cutting squares of scrapbook paper as the actual photo cut a slightly larger one of a different design and color. Glue the smaller one on top of the larger one.
Another option for creating the tiny photo napkin rings is to use scrapbook picture frames. Since these come in various sizes, colors and shapes you can make the napkin ring photos for pennies.
After the photos are mounted to backing and/or frames simply use glue or double-sided tape to attach them to the cardboard rings. Instantly your table will have color, interest and a specific theme. This craft is inexpensive but produces the cutest little napkin rings ever!
