If only we could all be so lucky as Pratt Institute in Clinton Hill. While other institutions enrollment is flagging and unemployment for so many remains so high, Pratt Institute has had to lease out some more space for all the incoming students. While so many shysters and schucketers have tried so many moves, education and a solid one in the arts and design program remains one of the motivating forces behind kids trying to make their way in the world today.
According to Brooklyn Eagle (1) the reason this space had to be rented “was necessitated by an increase in the number of incoming undergraduate freshmen and an increase in the number of incoming Masters of Fine Arts candidates.”
The “10,436 square feet,” of space, “a full floor…at 248 Flushing Avenue,” will be dedicated to semi-private studio space “for some of its first-year MFA candidates and a seminar room where classes will be held.”
This is great news for the straining spaces on the school’s main campus and keeps the pipes free for new students to come create and continuing students to still do the work which needs to be done.
