The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a game franchise adapted into a movie. It stars jake gyllenhall as the homeless street rat adopted by the king of persia thus making him a prince of persia. It also stars ben kingsley as the brother to the king of persia and gemma arterton as the princess entrusted to protect the sands of time. Before seeing the movie, I didn’t think that it would be very good, but it turned out to be enjoyable and alot better than I had originally thought.
The basic plot of the movie is this (warning: spoilers ahead): A homeless boy is adopted by the king of persia and grows up to be a prince of persia. He is then tricked into attacking and conquering a holy city, only to be framed for the murder of his adopted father, the king of persia. He discovers that the invasion of the city was orchestrated by his adopted uncle in order to obtain the sacred dagger and sands of time. Together with the princess of the holy city, who is the chosen guardian of the sands of time, they must stop his uncle from releasing the sands of time and destroying the world.
All in all, it was a good movie. The prince showed alot of acrobatic moves like he does in the video games. The story is average, but not bad. I wish they had showed more powers from the dagger of time similar to the video games, but unfortunately they only showed it reversing time about 4 times.
If you have a video rental account such as netflix, I would definitely rent it. I don’t think it’s worth going to a movie theater to see it unless you’re one of those people who don’t have to watch their money.
