Prince William and Kate Middleton are now engaged, and plans are underway for them to be married in 2011. Prince William and Kate Middleton engagement rumors had been floating around for awhile, but People Magazine just reported that the couple is finally (officially) engaged. This is pretty big news, and it sets the stage for a massive royal wedding in 2011. It has been assumed that they will walk down the aisle when the weather warms up a bit, so that could mean a late spring or early summer wedding. There has been no confirmation of a date at this time, though.
The engagement didn’t just happen today or yesterday either, as it was revealed that they became engaged while they were vacationing in Kenya. You can bet that there will certainly be a lot of stories from the couple as to how that trip went, and magazines will be clamoring to find out exactly how it was Prince William proposed. Eventually, the couple will probably give interviews about how it all went down, but at this time we are left to just guess that he must have done something romantic, especially with how long the couple has been dating.
The relationship of William and Kate Middleton isn’t one that just happened over night, but rather has been going on for close to a decade now. It was a relationship that had its ups and downs, and they were separated at least once during that span of time. Now they are engaged to be married, though, and this is going to be huge news for our friends across the pond. It’s also going to be bad news for all of Prince William’s fans, who have been pining over him for many years, because it is clear that he is about to come off the market for good.
It is pretty easy to assume that the wedding of William and Middleton is going to be massive, and that it would be no surprise if it ended up on the same scale as his mother. When Diana married his father, Charles, it was a global event broadcast all over the world, and one of the biggest ceremonies most of us have ever seen. Now it’s around 20 years later, technology has improved, and the attention that is paid to celebrities of Prince William’s stature sometimes borders on the obscene level. We can easily expect it to be a wedding broadcast live online as well as on television, unless the couple decides that they want to work hard at having a private ceremony.
Get ready folks, because the announcement of the engagement simply means that the spectacle is about to begin.
