My husband Jeff has been playing video games since he was ten years old, or for the last thirty years. He stays current with the latest gaming systems and always has the latest games. Jeff considers himself to be an expert video gamer, and I’m inclined to agree, because it seems he can learn to play any game in just a few minutes. Jeff spends at least two hours each day, or fourteen hours a week, playing video games. He prefers shooter games, and says that his main reason for playing games is the feeling of real action. He plays video games on a 65-inch Panasonic flat plasma screen HD TV. I asked Jeff several questions about his newest game, Call of Duty Black Ops for PS3, and this product review is the result of that interview.
Game Objective: In Black Ops, the game player is a “black ops”, or secret agent who may be working on multiple undercover missions at any given time. During the missions, the player faces challenges and has the opportunity to earn trophies, but the ultimate goal of every mission is to locate and eliminate a human target. There is no reward for completing the missions, except to move on to the next mission.
What is Good About Black Ops: The graphics are amazingly realistic, and the player experiences actual thrills and excitement when playing. (It should be noted that the full graphics potential of the game cannot be realized without adequate video equipment.) It is easy to learn how the controller relates to the game, in terms of which buttons perform which functions, especially since some buttons are consistent across all PS3 games. The learning curve is very easy to overcome, and the player can reach his full playing level of expertise in just a short time after beginning the game for the first time.
What is Not Good About Black Ops: Since the game takes place in the ’60’s and ’70’s, the weapons are the type of weapons used during that time. Jeff is used to playing a lot of games with ultra modern weaponry, such as lasers and other futuristic weapons. He is not crazy about his weapon choices in this game and thinks that they are too obsolete.
Is Black Ops a Good Value? “Absolutely! I love this game. It was worth every penny.” I would have to agree that Jeff gets his money’s worth out of this game. He plays it a lot, and always has fun. The missions are challenging, but attainable.
Would You Recommend Black Ops to Other Video Gamers? “Again, absolutely! This is a great game that I’m going to play for a long time!”
Well, there you have it. A big thumbs up for Call of Duty Black Ops for PS3 from an experienced video gamer. It’s very realistic graphically, although the weapons are a little old fashioned. It’s easy for an experienced gamer to learn, and a good value for the price.
