My boyfriend likes to drink coffee in the morning before work, so I try to buy him different varieties for his Keurig. Once in awhile I will drink coffee, but it’s very seldom, such as a couple times each month. I prefer a medium roast as I don’t love strong coffee, but I do like to be able to taste the coffee as well. I decided to try the Cinnamon Roll flavor from Green Mountain Coffee’s “Donut House Collection” because I like cinnamon and I know my boyfriend loves it as well. The coffee is said to have a “flavor and aroma of a fresh-baked cinnamon roll, still warm from the oven,” so it sounded very delicious and tempting for me to try!
The coffee came housed in the individual K-Cups inside a cardboard box. The box has a convenient perforated section you can remove in order to be able to easily grab the K-Cup from the package. The color of the package is a reddish brown color to indicate cinnamon flavor, I assume. There are cute pictures on the box that show drawings, almost in a cartoon-like manner, enjoying coffee, donuts, and cinnamon buns in diner or donut house settings that remind me of decades ago.
These “Donut House Collections” come in the following varieties: Chocolate Glazed Donut, Cinnamon Roll, Donut House Coffee, and Donut House Coffee Decaf.
The Keurig system is very easy to use and program, and it’s very convenient, but I hate the thought of wasting so much packaging since they are individual servings. The Keurig does have it’s own filter with which you can use your own loose ground coffee if that’s what you prefer.
When I drink coffee from the Keurig, I usually only have a small cup so I put it on the smallest size setting for my brew size. The product is labeled as a flavored coffee and a light roast, which I didn’t notice until after I’d purchased it. They surely are not lying when they say it’s a light roast. Even for me it seems to have barely any flavor at all. It’s difficult to detect the coffee flavor and there is only a slight hint of cinnamon even for the smallest size setting on the Keurig coffee brewer.
My boyfriend gave his input and said it was flavorful, although mild. He likes it more than I do, and that’s the important thing, but I think it’s almost too light. I certainly was not impressed with this flavor. Perhaps I am used to stronger flavors and was expecting a bit more from this coffee even though it is labeled as a light roast.
As a whole, Green Mountain Coffee is a good brand, in my opinion, but this flavor was very disappointing to me. I have tried many flavors from this brand, as has my boyfriend, and this certainly not one of either of our favorites. I will not purchase this flavor again and I doubt I will purchase any other light roast variety either. Unless you like watered down flavor, I do not recommend this variety. On the other hand, my boyfriend would recommend this variety to anyone who enjoys a delicate light roast coffee.
