My husband and I have always loved Great Danes. Great Danes have been members of our family for almost 14 years. Over the years we have used several different kinds of dog food, including Alpo, Iams, and Eukanuba, to name just a few. For the last several years we have used Pedigree Large Breed Dry dog food exclusively. It is the only dry dog food our Great Danes eat. We also have a medium size shepherd mix, and she eats the Large Breed dog food too.
Pedigree Large Breed is formulated especially for large breed dogs, such as the Great Dane. It contains special ingredients like glucosamine to help keep joints healthy. Big dogs like Danes often have hip and joint problems, and using this dog food takes the hassle out of adding glucosamine supplements to our dogs’ diets.
Pedigree Large Breed formula has the nutrition that we look for in a dog food. This dog food contains vitamins and minerals to help keep dogs healthy, and is made from nutritious real food like beef, chicken and rice. The protein content is a minimum of twenty two percent, according to the ingredient breakdown analysis . The pieces are nice and big, which actually helps big dogs not to eat too fast. Our dogs are beautiful and healthy, with strong white teeth and healthy coats. They have annual physical veterinary exams, and our vet says they are both in excellent physical condition.
The best thing that I like about this dog food is that it seems to taste just right. You’re probably wondering how I know that. We free feed our dogs with this food. Each of them eats just enough. They eat when they’re hungry and we feed them all they want. When they’re done, they stop eating, and they eat just enough. Both dogs are active and fit, and they are both able to maintain a healthy weight on a healthy diet of mainly Pedigree Large Breed dog food. (They also get lots of doggie treats.)
As I mentioned earlier, I have used the more expensive brands like Iams and Eukanuba. While these foods offer excellent nutrition, just like Pedigree Large Breed does, they cost quite a bit more, and the dogs don’t seem to like these brands as much as they like the Pedigree. I know this simply because the dogs eat more of the Pedigree, and end up going through it faster. I can’t see paying more money for a dog food that the dogs don’t like. It may be nutritious, but if they don’t eat enough of it then there’s really no point to feeding it to them.
Pedigree Large Breed Dry Dog Food is not the cheapest food on the isle, that’s for sure. But it is also not the most expensive, and I find it to be a really good value for the price. The dogs seem to really love it, and combined with lots of exercise and love, it has helped us to give our Great Danes and other dogs long and healthy lives.
