No one likes a sopping mess of wet hair dripping cold water down your back. Most girls remedy this with the seemingly inborn skill of wrapping a bath towel turban-style around your hair so that it stays in place on top of your head. However, bath towels are heavy and even the slightest shift can send the towel cascading off your head. The Turbie Twist is a specially designed towel created by two sisters who wanted something better. I happened to notice this product while shopping a Black Friday sale at a local Fred Meyer and decided to give it a try. I paid $3.99 for a plain white one.
As advertised, the Turbie Twist is very lightweight. When I opened mine, I was surprised at how thin the towel material was- it was not nearly as thick and plush as my regular bath towels. I was skeptical that it would be as absorbent as my usual towels, and while I won’t say that it is any more absorbent than those towels, it does a sufficient job of getting the excess moisture out of my hair with much less bulk than the other towels. I have shoulder length, medium thick hair and was able to fit all of it into the Turbie Twist comfortably despite the towel’s small size.
The shape of the Turbie Twist is what makes it unique. It has one deep pocket and then tapers down into another smaller pocket at the other end. To use, you flip your head over and place the Turbie Twist on your head so that the outer edge of the larger pocket sits at the nape of your neck. Your hair gets tucked into the smaller pocket, then you roll the towel up and twist it back. There is a small loop to help secure the twist in place. This loop is my favorite feature of the Turbie Twist. I have used the product a few times, and it is so nice to have my wet hair securely wrapped up and out of my face. I can put makeup on, move around, or even get dressed without the Turbie Twist coming undone.
Bottom Line: For the price, this towel is a must-have. It is just as cheap as a regular bath towel, but much, much more convenient. I think I will be purchasing a few more to give away as gifts over the holidays.
