Project M is a program that is officially not funded and indeed doesn’t really exist. The goal is to land a teleoperated, humanoid robot on the lunar surface within a thousand days. But for an unfunded, all but nonexistent program, there seems to be a lot going on, as the video below of the third free flight of a lunar lander prototype conducted by Armadillo Aerospace in Texas seems to suggest. Question: What would happen, say in a year or so, if all of the sudden the world woke up and we saw on TV and streaming video on the Internet the images of R2, the robot, walking on the Moon? Considering that the President doesn’t want Americans to return to the Moon because, as he put it, Buzz Aldrin has already been there, wouldn’t the cry go up for human beings to follow R2?
