California Prop 19 results are coming in and it looks like Prop 19 is going to fail. California Prop 19 results were set to dictate if California voters wanted to legalize marijuana for recreational use in that state. It’s a controversial measure to say the least, but has draw so much interest that voter turnout could reach record numbers in the state. So many people wanted to find out results as soon as they could, that they even crashed the California election website several times during the vote revelations.
If Proposition 19 were to pass in the State of California, it would have allowed for adults 21 and over to possess up to one ounce of marijuana. They would also be able to smoke that drug in a nonpublic place, as well as grow it in their own private plots. Not just that, the law would have made it possible for local governments to give permits for the sale and growing of the marijuana as well. This could have been a massive tax revenue source according to those that were in favor of the proposition passing, and it suddenly became a very divisive issue in the state.
It would have been a ground-breaking move had the state passed Prop 19, and it was one of the reasons that so many younger people were turning out to vote in California on Tuesday. That the proposition was struck down might not be that surprising, as there are quite a few people that are still very opposed to selling drugs like this one in a recreational fashion. The debate will simply continue about the benefits it could have to the bottom line of the state, and whether it is bad for its users.
