The Palo Alto Department of Planning and Community Environment is holding a Quality School and Complete Communities presentation on November 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Palo Alto City Council Chambers 250 Hamilton Ave, Palo Alto. This presentation is the sixth in a series aimed at providing input and suggestions for the Comprehensive Plan Amendment.
Jeff Vincent, Deputy Director and co-founder of Center for Cities and Schools will discuss how to make schools a valuable asset in the development of sustainable communities. Due to the passage of Senate Bill 375 (New Smart Growth law), cities across the Bay Area are looking at ways to reduce emissions from cars and for ways to provide better walking routes to and from schools. Developing a sustainable community also means looking at the way the City is landscaped to see what improvements can be made to make it easier to get around without the use of a car.
