Halloween is a terrific holiday to celebrate with friends and family. Desserts and drinks are a must when preparing your party’s menu. JELL-O is a popular gelatin dessert that can also be used in the making of adult beverages, such as JELL-O shots. You may have end up with quite a few JELL-O boxes after the preparation of your desserts and drinks. Below is a fun tutorial to turn these empty boxes into festive Halloween treat boxes that would make awesome party favors for your guests. You can fill the boxes with candy, chocolate or any Halloween themed item. You can always put the JELL-O packs aside to use closer to your party date and get a head start on making these creative Halloween treat boxes.
Decorative Halloween Paper
Small JELL-O Boxes
One Hole Punch
Step One – Carefully remove the edges from the open side of the JELL-O box, leaving the opposite end sealed. Your box should be able to stand upright on its own with the top open.
Step Two – Lay your decorative paper flat and place the Jell-O box on top of it. The idea is to wrap the outside of the Jell-O box, similar to wrapping a gift, except you will not cover the open end of the Jell-O box with the decorative Halloween paper. Cut the amount of paper needed to wrap the box and then adhere it onto the box with the craft glue.
Step Three – Using the one hole punch, place two holes on the top of the two sides of the Jell-O box, approximately ½” from the trim. Cut a strip of ribbon from the roll and string it through the holes. Tie a knot on each side to secure the ribbon handle into place.
Step Four – Stuffing some tissue paper into the box is optional, but I would recommend doing this for a better presentation of the treats inside of the treat box!
