Creating recycled ornaments is both festive and eco-friendly. This article contains a simple tutorial for kids of all ages. The main reusable item needed for this holiday project is a Pringles lid. With the lid and an assortment of common craft supplies, you are sure to create a unique and green holiday ornament for the winter season.
One Hole Punch
Sewing Buttons (small)
Glue Sticks (for glue gun)
Step One – Wash the Pringles lid and towel dry it. Take the one hole punch and make a hole at the very top of the lid, make sure it is centered.
Step Two – If you choose to paint the lid a solid background color, do so now. It may take more than one coat of the acrylic paint to get a smooth look. When the paint is completely dry, you can begin to decorate the lid like a traditional ball ornament. Using the puff paint, draw lines across of the lid in a zig zag pattern. When the puff paint is completely dry, begin to glue the small buttons in various spots on the lid. When you are happy with your decorated ornament, let it dry.
Step Three – Cut a piece of yarn around four inches long and string it through the hole at the top of the lid. Tie a knot in the yarn so you can hang the ornament onto your tree.
