This article will serve as a walkthrough for the eighth Allied mission in the PC game Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 which is entitled ‘The Great Bear Trap’. This mission starts both commanders infiltrating the area, with the commander having to bribe a small force. The objectives of The Great Bear Trap in Red Alert 3 is to investigate what’s going on in Cuba, having been tipped off by Dr. Zelinsky. The Allied Commander will be assisted by Giles in the struggle against Oleg’s forces during The Great Bear Trap in Red Alert 3.
Red Alert 3: The Great Bear Trap Primary Objectives
1. Investigate Havana for Soviet activity
2. Locate a Soviet base
3. Destroy the Soviet Base
4. Destroy the Kirov launch facilities
5. Do not let a Kirov leave Havana
Red Alert 3: The Great Bear Trap Secondary Objectives
1. Bribe 10 Soviet units

Start the mission with leaving the attack dogs behind while using the spies to bribe the Soviet forces while the Mirage tank progresses down the road. Each bribed group should be moved behind to the bottom bit of the island, as trying to keep them all under the Mirage tank while bribing with the spies can be a little difficult and can end them up being crushed by tanks.
Bribe the engineers and bullfrog first, next the 2 flak troopers and tesla trooper to the right, wait to bribe the tesla trooper and flak troopers to the left until the additional pair of tesla troopers come to a stop next to them, allowing you to bribe all 5 at once. Timing the bribe right can allow one bribe to get both of the first pair of tanks that move past the mirage tank. The second pair should be bribed as well. Ignore the 2 flak troopers to the right.
When the mirage tank comes to a stop, take this time to use the engineers to capture the war factory and crusher crane. There seems to be a bug where some of the tanks will actively attempt to commit suicide by driving into the crusher crane and there is no way to stop this.
Next you can get back to the task at hand, bribe the whole line of infantry blocking the path, and make sure you have one bribe left to hit both the apocalypse tanks. Support the co-commander in destroying the base, which once fell breaks the mission into a cut scene showing a nice surprise, Kirov’s with massive bombs.
Use your bribed force to attack the soccer stadium next to the captured buildings from earlier. You can keep the crusher crane to repair units when they’re finished with those first 2 launch facilities but don’t bother trying to build soviet tech, since the extra credits this wastes on tech buildings will likely result in defeat, even though Tesla IFVs are great fun.
The co-commander should be utilized for attacking the Kirovs that have launched, once they are flying over the water. Don’t order him to attack the Soviet bases, or his forces will get flattened along with his base.
Build Century Bombers to take out the pool launch facility in the south, along with Apollo fighters for the Kirovs if you get the option. Also make sure to have a decent mobile AA force to take out as many kirovs as possible. Next you should work on the gym, again using century bombers to do this, but making sure to divert their flight path away from the Soviet base’s AA turrets. After this, hit the sports stadium you encountered in the beginning with the century bombers, which will take several runs to do.
By now you should have a decent ground force, preferably still contains the 2 apocalypse tanks from earlier and some athena cannons. Move against the final launch facility, cutting a path straight to the launch building. Make sure to bring a diverse group, as you will face air and ground in considerable strength here. Engage only what you need to, to get the athena cannons in range and let the fire over and over until the stadium drops.
Send in the century bombers if you get the chance to clear a couple flak turrets out. Also, having Tanya at this point could prove very helpful, although her cost should be taken into consideration, considering the limited resources you have to work with. Once that final launch facility is down, this mission is declared an Allied victory.
