Red Dead Redemption has proven to be a very popular hit, so no one should be surprised that this game is getting an upgrade. In fact, this is not the first add on to the game and what is amazing is how quickly Red Dead Redemption has added more and more content. Red Dead Redemption: Liars and Cheats is the newest downloadable content for the game and the big question is how Red Dead Redemption: Liars and Cheats stacks up.
Red Dead Redemption: Liars and Cheats is available for 800 points on Xbox Live or $9.99 on PSN. Red Dead Redemption: Liars and Cheats and emphasizes gambling and multiplayer gameplay. The first new multiplayer element is the addition of more gambling which included poker and liars’ dice. The Horse racing feature also adds a new element unique to the game which is pretty fun. The racing is an anything goes kind of race so if you see this as some kind of sports mini-game do not worry, it is better than that.
Gambling games are not the only new additions that put an emphasis on multiplayer gameplay. Seven new gang hideouts will require your assistance and what should prove most popular is the Stronghold Competitive mode which is like War Craft Battlegrounds but in the Old West. Posse scoring and a leader board also promotes interaction among players.
Some small standard type upgrades have been included as well such as four new hunting grounds. A new weapon, the explosive rifle is also included and should be on every one’s must have list. New achievements and trophies are also available as are 15 new characters.
Overall this is not a brand new game. This is simply an expansion. Red Dead Redemption: Liars and Cheats is the same visually as regular Red Dead Redemption. The sound quality is the same. Game mechanics are even the exact same as before. This is not even a full fledged expansion like some games make but should be thought more of as a mini expansion. Since you only have to pay about $10 for the expansion it is reasonably priced. I would not suggest you get the expansion unless you spend lots of time playing Red Dead Redemption though.
Overall this is an expansion that does add to the Red Dead Redemption game. Not everyone will be excited about the new additions. If you like to play alone then this expansion is not for you. If you only like playing with people you know and you do not have many friends with the game then you will not want this expansion either. If you do not like to gamble or gambling games then you will also not be to excited by this expansion. The expansion is not for everyone but most players will enjoy it and I would recommend it to current Red Dead Redemption fans but advise new players to wait and see how they like the original game before they upgrade.
